Save Money and Energy with new B.E.M. Guide.
The Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications, Sean McGee TD announced at a seminar in Cork today that grant aid of excess €125,000 will be provided to four hospitals and five hotels, including Merlin Park Hospital in Galway and Corks Jury Hotel in order to assist their installation of energy management systems, resulting in an annual savings of €115,851 on their energy bills and a reduction of 1800 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
This announcement was made following the introduction of the new guide to Building Energy Management Systems by Mr Joseph Ryan, Director of the National Board for Energy Management. The guide will mainly be of benefit to facilities and energy managers, professionals involved in procurement, design, specification and construction of buildings, as well as third level students.
The guide explains features of B.E.M.’s, outlines its role in reducing energy consumption as well as training for system maintenance, operates and system commissioning, in ‘clear, precise language that everyone can understand and hopefully make use of,’ according to Mr Ryan.
The guide is available from the National Board for energy management.
