Designing for STEM Workshops
On Monday, 21st May, we decorated the NIMBUS Seminar Room for the official launch of our website and program!
The event was a great success and was attended by many potential collaborators of ours, including; Head of Faculty of Engineering and Science, Michael Loftus, and Trish Brennan, Head of Fine Art and Applied Art in Crawford College.
Speeches were given by both Sarah and Michelle, who outlined what our workshops involve and also gave a quick tour of our new website! Orla Flynn, the Vice President of External Affairs in CIT also gave a talk about the importance of STEM education, and a talk on the links between art and STEM education was given by Trish Brennan. Head of Nimbus Marketing Dissemination & Communication, Emily Twomey also contributed to the launch, putting a lot of work into the event itself, as well as helping our team network.
There were projects from past workshops on display, as well as examples of briefs, materials used in the workshops, and a UDOO kit. These displays attracted a lot of attention, especially the past projects and the crafting materials, from the engineers in attendance.
After the event, plans for future collaborations were discussed with those in attendance, with some very exciting things being put in the works!
Designing for STEM would like to thank all of those who attended the launch, and the NIMBUS Center for being so accommodating. They would especially like to thank Emily Twomey and her team for all their hard work.
